Short Term Let - FAQs

What is a short term let?

The usual term of a standard tenancy agreement is either 6 or 12 months. Some of our landlords are open to letting their properties for periods shorter than this. A short-term let works exactly the same way as a standard tenancy agreement, you will need to fill out an application form, go through the referencing process, pay a deposit and pay your first month's rent payment upfront. The only thing that is different is that you will live in the property for a shorter period of time.

How long is a short term let?

The minimum term for a short-term let is 3 months. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer tenancies for shorter periods of time than this. X1 manages our properties on behalf of our landlords, so any tenancy length will have to be agreed upon with the landlord of the property that you are looking to rent. If your circumstances change at the end of the short-term tenancy, you will have the option to renew your agreement if needed.

Do I need a guarantor to secure my short-let flat?

All applicants need to go through the referencing process regardless of the length of the contract. During the referencing process you will need to give the details of your employment and annual income. If you do not meet the necessary requirements, you will need to provide a guarantor in order to pay the rent monthly. If this is not an option, you can pay the rent for the full term upfront in order to move into the property.

Are post-graduated and working professionals considered for a short-term contract?

We welcome all applicants for short-term contracts, but remember, short-term contracts are not available on all of the properties in our portfolio, only select properties. We have students, post-graduates, and working professionals living in our properties, so no matter your situation, we will have somewhere for you to live.

How can I book my short-let apartment?

We will be more than happy to show you around our available properties on a day and time that suits you and then if you want to make an application, we will get the ball rolling to get you moved in as soon as possible.

Do I have to pay a deposit to secure my short-let flat?

Yes, all of our tenancies, regardless of the length require a deposit to be paid. The deposit is one month's rent and provided that there is no damage or rental arrears at the end of the tenancy, will be returned to you in full. All deposits are held within a third-party government-approved deposit scheme, we use the Deposit Protection Service, to give you the peace of mind that your deposit is being held safely and securely.
